This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Conduct structural analysis on aerospace ground support equipment, launch infrastructure, and mechanical components.

• Create hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) models to confirm structural integrity and system performance.

• Assess static, dynamic, thermal, and load path conditions for aerospace systems.

• Review umbilical systems for disconnect timing, clearance, and launch/abort loading conditions.

• Execute structural and functional analysis on ground testing equipment, fixtures, stands, and instrumentation hardware.

• Validate launch pad structures, integrated mechanical systems, and infrastructure against operational and environmental loads.

• Examine transportation and handling equipment, including lifting fixtures, transport frames, rigging points, handling rings, and related tooling.

• Verify rated loads, safety factors, and adherence to lifting and handling standards.

• Compile formal engineering analysis reports to support configuration release activities and design reviews.

• Work collaboratively with design engineers, drafting teams, and cross-functional engineering groups to aid product development.

• Ensure that all analyses adhere to Blue Origin engineering practices and relevant NASA MSFC standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• Proven experience in performing structural analysis on aerospace hardware, ground support equipment, or complex mechanical systems.

• Strong knowledge of static analysis, dynamic analysis, thermal analysis, and load path analysis.

• Experience in conducting both hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).

• Proficient with one or more FEA software packages, including ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus, Femap, or equivalent.

• Experience in evaluating safety factors, rated loads, and structural integrity.

• Excellent technical writing skills with experience in preparing engineering reports and analysis documentation.
