Staff Software Engineer – Money Movement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical strategy and implementation of fiat-to-crypto functionalities and infrastructure.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of junior and mid-level engineers across backend, frontend, desktop, and mobile platforms.

• Develop secure and scalable systems that connect users with third-party payment service providers and payment infrastructures.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data analysts, and engineers from various teams within MetaMask to deliver cross-platform features.

• Uphold high standards of code quality through design discussions, reviews, testing, and thorough documentation.

• Assist in ensuring the reliability, observability, and performance of the Money Movement services.

• Take ownership of architectural decisions that impact revenue-generating user flows.

• Collaborate with mobile and extension platform teams to create cohesive and seamless money movement experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-stack or backend engineering, with proven success in a Staff (or equivalent) role.

• A history of setting technical direction and making a significant impact across a team or organization, rather than just delivering individual features.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, React Native, and contemporary web technologies.

• Proven experience in leading projects across multiple workstreams, mentoring engineers, and making architectural decisions for web, iOS, and Android applications.

• Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with payment infrastructure, APIs, and third-party integrations.

• Ability to critically assess edge cases, system security, and potential failure modes.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly within remote-first teams.

• Experience working in agile environments with cross-functional teams.

• Dedication to clean coding practices, testing, and developing maintainable software.
