This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Develop and enhance the foundation of our edge-native container platform, Magic Containers, and influence how developers operate at the edge.
• Amplify your impact by establishing standards, mentoring engineers, and enhancing both code quality and collective knowledge across the team.
• Actively identify opportunities to enhance the platform, processes, or developer experience and lead those enhancements from inception to completion.
• Spearhead cross-team initiatives, whether it involves scaling orchestration systems, improving global observability, or facilitating company-wide migrations and technological transitions.
• Harmonize technical direction across teams by collaborating on specifications, guiding architecture, and aligning engineering decisions with business objectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate production issues, including those raised by customers.
• Take ownership of results end-to-end: not merely delivering features, but providing systems that effectively address real customer challenges at scale.
• Establish a high standard for excellence in code quality, system design, and the support we provide for our production systems.
• Over 5 years of experience with C# or a strong willingness to transition to it.
• Comprehensive understanding of containers (cgroups, namespaces, runtimes) and their underlying mechanics.
• Demonstrated experience in building and managing distributed systems across global infrastructure, particularly those designed for global scale, low latency, or edge environments.
• Solid knowledge of Linux systems and comfort operating close to the operating system.
• Strong understanding of networking principles, encompassing routing protocols, load balancing techniques, and distributed traffic patterns.
• Familiarity with time-series or analytical databases such as ClickHouse or InfluxDB.
• Excellent debugging skills and the capability to diagnose complex production challenges.
• Experience in leading cross-team or organization-wide technical initiatives, guiding architecture, and mentoring engineers.
• Knowledge of observability best practices, including logging, metrics, and health monitoring for distributed systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly and thoughtfully: producing excellent documentation, explaining trade-offs, and fostering alignment.
• A customer-centric mindset focused on outcomes, long-term reliability, and ongoing improvement.
• A commitment to fostering the growth of others and a tendency to lead by example in code writing and reviewing.
