Staff Software Engineer – Integrations Platform
Posted Jun 21

Posted Jun 21
This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the integrations strategy as a dedicated workstream rather than making a series of hurried decisions.
• Lead architectural choices over several quarters and across various integrations, weighing the benefits of extracting shared abstractions now against the temporary duplication that may occur.
• Create an authoring framework that enables FDEs, contractors, and AI agents to safely enhance the platform, treating this authoring surface as a primary platform challenge.
• Guide the team through collaborative discussions on complex design choices prior to release and facilitate design reviews as an educational opportunity.
• Participate in escalation and surge responsibilities, engage in the maintenance rotation, and consider operability as a crucial aspect of platform design rather than an afterthought.
• Review customer service threads, POP escalations, and customer-facing realities as valuable inputs to the strategy, rather than distractions.
• Structure staff-shaped projects so that other engineers on the team can engage with meaningful tasks, viewing platform work as a multiplier effect rather than a personal showcase.
• A proven history of leading multi-quarter platform or integration efforts, including architectural oversight across multiple product surfaces.
• Established experience in designing SDKs, authoring frameworks, or systems that enable safe extensions of a product by other engineers, partners, or external authors.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in building scalable, observable SaaS systems.
• Profound expertise in TypeScript and Node.js, as well as AWS primitives (Lambda, SQS, S3), demonstrating fluency reflected in architectural decisions rather than merely syntax.
• Practical experience with non-API integration patterns: large-scale webhooks, OAuth flows across numerous tenants, and familiarity with at least one of browser-driven automation, iPaaS bridges (Okta Workflows, Tines, Workato), or callback-based designs.
• A documented architectural decision that you take pride in, along with another you would approach differently with a year’s perspective.
• An instinct for reviewing that is focused on teaching rather than gatekeeping.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) and a clear perspective on how platforms should be designed when AI agents contribute to the authoring process.
• The self-assurance to admit "I do not know yet, here is how I would find the answer", particularly in your first ninety days on the team.
• If you seek a position to independently deliver significant projects and become the key decision-maker, this role is not for you. The aim of this hire is to enhance the team's capabilities, not to centralize architectural decisions. Strong opinions are appreciated once you have gained the necessary context, rather than from day one.
