Staff Software Engineer – Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee full stack development for both front end and back end systems that support federal copyright modernization initiatives.

• Independently plan and implement technical roadmaps without the need for direct guidance from technical supervisors.

• Act as the primary technical lead for your workstream, proactively updating stakeholders on progress, risks, and tradeoffs.

• Analyze and enhance complex, ambiguous systems to identify constraints and reveal new opportunities.

• Minimize technical ambiguity through thorough documentation, code refactoring, and the adoption of automated testing practices.

• Advocate for effective technical solutions during planning meetings, clearly communicating tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Engage in technical depth interviews with potential candidates.

• Assist in bid writing, technical demonstrations, and client communication by explaining system history, design choices, and past performance.

• Occasionally travel to collaborate with clients, partners, and stakeholders as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree and over 9 years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.

• Expert-level knowledge in at least one significant full stack technology stack, with a proven ability to independently lead teams to successful outcomes.

• Extensive experience in back end development with Python and/or Java.

• Proficient in front end development using Angular or similar modern frameworks.

• Familiarity with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.

• Practical experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application architecture.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control practices using GitLab.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting technical subjects to diverse audiences.

• Must fulfill federal suitability requirements and successfully pass a background investigation as a prerequisite for employment.
