Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Capacity Modeling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accountable for establishing the technical strategy for the team over a one-year timeframe.

• Work collaboratively across various teams throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure technical sustainability.

• Serve as a force-multiplier for the team by defining and advocating for technical solutions.

• Take responsibility for team operations and availability through effective monitoring and triage.

• Cultivate a culture of quality within the team by implementing code review and design standards.

• Assist in talent development by providing constructive feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• Proven history of creating highly available distributed systems utilizing technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in supporting the scaling up and down of large sales events such as Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or similar sales holidays.

• Proficient in tuning autoscaling, CPU/Memory, and multi-threading for compute-intensive workloads.

• Experience in delivering major features, system components, or phasing out existing functionality through the formulation of a technical and execution plan.

• Strong understanding of low-level language idioms in relation to large systems architecture.

• Demonstrated growth and impact trajectory showcasing mastery in gathering and iterating feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with our global engineering team.

• This role necessitates either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
