• Take full ownership of the NSAI squad's technical architecture from start to finish — ensuring design, engineering, and deployment are aligned across the stack to provide dependable technical capabilities and a superior user experience as the product evolves.
• Enhance production readiness by implementing deployment monitoring, effective error handling, graceful degradation, and comprehensive operational runbooks.
• Act as a force multiplier by establishing, demonstrating, and mentoring the team in engineering best practices (including system design for modularity, security, reliability, and scalability), code quality, and production delivery.
• Collaborate on the core technology stack strategy through architectural reviews and the identification of NSAI components that should become shared organizational primitives, while defining standard interfaces to minimize tight coupling.
• Work alongside the product lead to develop and implement realistic roadmaps that balance desired outcomes with feasibility, scalability, and sound architecture.
• Take responsibility for engineering’s quarterly objectives, ensuring consistent, impactful delivery while effectively managing resources.
• Oversee team output, delivery, and success (including productivity, timeliness, and morale) by appropriately matching team members with tasks that balance interest, learning opportunities, capacity, and capability.
• Advocate for high-quality software delivery through the creation of robust tools, processes, and methodologies, while providing hands-on technical leadership through individual development contributions and code reviews.
• Generate technical documentation and processes that facilitate high velocity and knowledge transfer.
• Lead a team of 2-4 engineers, performing one-on-one meetings, providing technical and professional feedback, creating professional development plans, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of personally building, shipping, and managing production systems at significant scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including FastAPI, async patterns, and Docker orchestration.
• Experience with Vue 3 / TypeScript, Rust / Tauri, or cross-platform desktop applications is highly advantageous.

• Proven technical leadership through the introduction of engineering quality practices to one or more teams.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and resource constraints effectively.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to build high-trust working relationships across a 6+ hour time zone spread.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration and communication to enhance understanding and context sharing between engineering and non-engineering/non-technical stakeholders.
