Staff Software Engineer – AI SDK

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Join our team as a Software Engineer.

• Design and implement features for the Temporal AI SDK that support a wide range of frameworks and libraries.

• Acquire a thorough understanding of AI application development methodologies, including new approaches and architectures.

• Utilize multiple programming languages, focusing mainly on Python and TypeScript.

• Leverage AI coding tools extensively to ensure high quality across numerous integrations.

• Assume complete ownership of new features, collaborating with various teams to ensure outstanding reliability and a superior developer experience.

• Act as a domain specialist on AI design patterns, working with field personnel to share best practices and exemplary models.

• Engage directly with our developer community to troubleshoot issues requiring expert insight and gather feedback on Temporal SDK features and APIs.

• Produce public technical documentation that explains Temporal concepts and APIs.

• Go above and beyond to assist customers when AI SDK engineering expertise is necessary, even if it's a rare occurrence.

• Participate in annual travel to meet with colleagues for a week, once or twice a year.

• Optionally attend developer conferences to showcase the benefits of Temporal.


⛳️ Requirements

• A strong interest and experience in leveraging generative AI, especially for agents and coding tasks.

• A profound understanding of utilizing AI to enhance quality, not just quantity.

• A discerning approach to code and software development practices—your methods should be well-informed and thoughtful, yet flexible.

• A proven history of contributions to open source software, including third-party libraries.

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, along with a willingness to learn new ones.

• Extensive experience with concurrent programming—familiarity with mutexes, atomics, and other concurrency primitives is essential for safe usage.

• Experience in designing APIs and creating documentation for publicly accessible libraries or modules.

• Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

• A BS or MS in Computer Science (or a related field), or equivalent professional experience in developing production-grade software.
