This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and refine Dropbox’s comprehensive technical reliability strategy to adapt to the evolving engineering landscape shaped by AI-assisted and autonomous software development.
• Establish long-term reliability objectives, standards, and roadmaps encompassing observability, debugging, incident management, service health, and operational readiness.
• Spearhead cross-team initiatives aimed at minimizing reliability risks as software delivery speed, pull request frequency, service complexity, and incident occurrence escalate.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders and platform teams to enhance monitoring, alerting, debugging, service level objectives (SLOs), service level agreements (SLAs), and incident response mechanisms at a company-wide scale.
• Recognize emerging reliability threats introduced by AI-driven development practices and create scalable systems, processes, and safeguards to mitigate these risks.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across various teams, elevating engineering quality, reliability assessment, and operational excellence.
• Foster transparent communication and alignment with senior stakeholders regarding reliability priorities, trade-offs, risks, and progress in execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline that includes coding (such as physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience.
• Over 12 years of experience in software engineering, site reliability engineering, infrastructure engineering, or similar technical roles.
• Demonstrated ability to define and implement multi-year, multi-team reliability, infrastructure, or platform strategies with measurable impacts on business and customer outcomes.
• Extensive experience with distributed systems, production operations, observability, incident response, SLOs/SLAs, debugging, and reliability risk management.
• Proven capability to diagnose intricate technical issues, debug production systems, automate operational processes, and design resilient software components.
• Experience in influencing engineering roadmaps across multiple teams and making technical decisions that benefit the broader engineering organization.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders amidst uncertainty and drive execution across teams.
