Staff Machine Learning Systems Engineer, Embeddings Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee the development of advanced, large-scale machine learning methodologies for the next generation.

• Formulate and implement the ML strategy, pinpointing opportunities to improve personalization and recommendation accuracy throughout Reddit.

• Spearhead research projects focused on scalable machine learning systems and real-time model adjustments, integrating leading-edge innovations into production.

• Collaborate with ML infrastructure teams to create high-performance, distributed training systems that effectively scale across numerous GPUs and cloud environments.

• Create and enhance real-time serving architectures for extensive embeddings, ensuring rapid inference and high throughput.

• Work collaboratively with teams in Feed Ranking, Ads, Content Understanding, and Core ML to embed ML models into Reddit’s vital AI-driven systems.

• Mentor and support senior and mid-level ML engineers, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and knowledge exchange.

• Remain at the cutting edge of AI research, assessing and incorporating new modeling paradigms to maintain Reddit’s leading position in the ML ecosystem.

• Facilitate technical discussions, deliver presentations to leadership, and contribute to long-term planning and decision-making in ML.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong emphasis on large-scale ML systems and recommendation or personalization frameworks.

• Proficient in contemporary deep learning architectures, including sequence models and foundational models.

• In-depth understanding of complex multi-entity relationships in machine learning applications and their modeling in large-scale systems.

• Proven track record in designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable ML architectures, from distributed training to real-time inference.

• Strong software engineering capabilities in Python, C++, or similar languages, with experience in ML infrastructure, high-performance computing, and cloud-based ML pipelines.

• Demonstrated leadership in shaping ML strategy, mentoring engineers, and influencing cross-functional teams.

• Experience with A/B testing, model evaluation frameworks, and real-time feedback loops in large-scale production environments.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex ML concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
