Staff Inspector, Organic Certifiers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Evaluate operations that are seeking or maintaining USDA organic certification

• Collaborate with producers and handlers to arrange inspections within a specified timeframe

• Perform field and facility inspections in accordance with established policies and standards

• Gather food, product, or environmental samples from client locations

• Interview personnel involved in operations, request, and review operational records

• Document observations and findings from inspections

• Submit all necessary documentation by the established deadline

• Carry out unannounced inspections and collect samples

• Ensure effective and timely communication with supervisors, colleagues, and clients

• Observe, train, and assess peer inspectors as required

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, food science, environmental science, quality management, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)

• Inspectors must have a minimum of 2,000 hours (1 year) of relevant experience

• Understanding of NOP regulations (7 CFR Part 205)

• Documentation of adequate training to showcase relevant knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for inspecting operations

• Must possess a valid driver's license and dependable transportation
