This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Enhance the performance of the Dropbox web application as the primary focus of this role.
• Spearhead the performance initiative across iOS, Android, and desktop platforms by collaborating with internal experts.
• Manage performance improvements from start to finish: including measurement and deployment of code changes.
• Develop and maintain systems for measurement, instrumentation, and regression detection.
• Regularly produce code in a production environment, primarily utilizing JavaScript and React for web applications.
• Establish engineering standards for performance-related tasks across Core Engineering.
• Implement AI tools in performance projects and guide the optimization of AI-enhanced engineering processes.
• Shape cross-organizational roadmaps and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline involving programming.
• At least 12 years of experience as a software engineer, including a minimum of 3 years in a Senior role.
• Proven, hands-on experience in driving significant performance improvements in live web applications.
• Experience utilizing AI tools to expedite performance initiatives.
• Background in optimizing AI-assisted engineering workflows to enhance the productivity of fellow engineers.
• Practical experience with modern backend services using Python or Go that support consumer-facing applications.
• Experience leading technical strategies on initiatives that cross multiple teams or platforms.
• Familiarity with consumer-facing products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a history of influencing roadmaps and decisions beyond their immediate reporting line.
