This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Make an impact: Design and implement comprehensive systems ranging from internal developer tools and platform services to scalable infrastructure components, ensuring they are dependable, efficient, and user-friendly.
• Take ownership of the platform: Enhance and expand core platforms and developer experience tools to facilitate easier building, testing, deployment, and operation of high-quality software by teams.
• Foster innovation: Swiftly prototype and refine new workflows, automation, and platform features that enhance engineering productivity and operational excellence.
• Collaborate across teams: Work together with Product Managers, Designers, and fellow Engineers to define, design, and deliver impactful platform and infrastructure solutions.
• Elevate standards: Set an example through code reviews, mentoring, and advocating for engineering best practices throughout the team.
• Proven success in dynamic environments: Experience as a Senior or Staff Engineer in a rapidly growing startup or scale-up, with a strong focus on delivering results.
• Expertise in system design at scale: Demonstrated ability to architect and create complex systems, platforms, and developer tools that effectively support engineering teams at scale.
• Proficiency in modern technologies: Extensive experience with Python, Node.js, and AWS serverless architecture (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Front-end development skills: Proficient in creating responsive and high-performance front-ends using contemporary JavaScript frameworks like React.
• Product-focused approach: Experience working closely with product and engineering teams to address developer and operational challenges, beyond merely delivering features.
• Comfort with ambiguity: Ability to navigate shifting priorities and incomplete information to make informed technical choices.
• Preferred: Familiarity with the energy sector or other regulated industries.
• Experience in constructing internal platforms, developer tools, or self-service infrastructure capabilities.
• Knowledge of real-time data processing or agentic/AI-driven systems.
• Background in data engineering, analytics, or machine learning, including practical experience with modern data tools such as ClickHouse, dbt, Omni, or time-series data platforms.
• Competitive salary - our current band for this role is £101,000 or equivalent in local currency.
