This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of the complete lifecycle of internal systems projects, starting from need identification, through requirements gathering and scoping, to architecture, construction, and delivery.
• Create and uphold a systems roadmap that aligns with business priorities and fosters significant impact throughout the organization.
• Detect systemic issues within our tools and workflows, recommending architectural modifications to enhance reliability and scalability.
• Design and establish integrations that link our internal and third-party platforms (such as Shopify, HubSpot, Airtable, and others), ensuring reliable and predictable data flow.
• Develop and sustain automations that minimize manual effort across business workflows, encompassing data integration and operational supervision.
• Assess build versus buy decisions with a pragmatic approach, selecting the most effective options for both immediate and long-term outcomes.
• Produce clean, maintainable code while making architectural choices that balance business requirements with technical sustainability.
• Define and refine the standards for constructing, testing, and maintaining internal systems and integrations across the organization.
• Create and manage monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards to provide teams with clear visibility into system health.
• Anticipate risks before they escalate into incidents, taking ownership of troubleshooting and subsequent improvements when necessary.
• Establish the direction for engineering best practices in your work, including automated testing, version control, documentation, and security measures.
• Collaborate directly with stakeholders from operations, sales, marketing, and other areas to comprehend workflow needs, challenges, and priorities.
• Convert vague business requirements and challenges into precise, scoped technical plans, clearly communicating trade-offs in accessible language.
• Assist non-technical stakeholders in understanding the long-term consequences of technical decisions, beyond just immediate fixes.
• Keep stakeholders updated on project status, timelines, and obstacles throughout the project lifecycle.
• Thoroughly document architectural decisions, integration patterns, and operational procedures to ensure system maintainability.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, integration setups, and transition procedures to guarantee stability and continuity.
• Promote technical standards and best practices, ensuring that the work you deliver establishes a robust foundation for the organization.
• A minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience in building integrations, internal tools, automation systems, or SaaS products.
• A demonstrated history of managing technical projects from inception to completion, covering discovery, requirements, architecture, build, and production delivery.
• Experience in defining technical direction and making architectural decisions that weigh practical delivery against long-term technical viability.
• Hands-on experience with API integrations (REST, webhooks) and proficiency in contemporary programming languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go).
• Strong engineering principles with a collaborative development approach: writing reliable, well-tested code while proactively considering observability, error handling, and maintainability.
• Comfortable taking responsibility for the operational health of the systems you create, including stability, configuration management, and production reliability.
• An effective communicator capable of engaging directly with non-technical stakeholders, navigating ambiguity, and influencing technical direction across the organization without formal authority.
