Staff Engineer – RCM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify critical issues in eligibility, claims, billing, or payer workflows that offer the most significant leverage.

• Link technical tasks to patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and business results.

• Leverage data to pinpoint system failures and assess the effectiveness of your modifications.

• Develop tools that enable non-engineering teams to accelerate their processes and enhance decision-making.

• Streamline intricate workflows while acknowledging the complexities of healthcare, insurance, and revenue cycle management.

• Assist fellow engineers in improving their technical decision-making.

• Establish clarity in situations of uncertainty.

• Deliver work that is dependable, trackable, and sustainable.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in delivering production software, typically acquired over 10+ years or through equivalent high-impact roles.

• Proficient in Ruby on Rails and modern TypeScript.

• Strong background in relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, data modeling, and safe migrations.

• Experience with integrating external APIs in a production environment, including handling retries, idempotency, rate limits, partial failures, observability, and vendor-specific quirks.

• Proven ability to work independently on ambiguous, cross-functional challenges.

• Excellent product judgment: capable of reasoning about user requirements, operational workflows, edge cases, and trade-offs.

• Strong analytical skills: able to utilize metrics, logs, database queries, dashboards, and product analytics to gauge performance and determine the impact of changes.

• Demonstrated capability to elevate team standards through code reviews, design evaluations, mentorship, technical documentation, or pattern establishment.

• Exceptional written communication skills, including design documents, RFCs, incident reports, rollout strategies, and clear decision-making records.

• Comfortable working within regulated or high-trust environments where accuracy, privacy, and auditability are crucial.
