Staff Engineer, iOS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the iOS platform foundation: Establish the app architecture, modular boundaries, and native engineering patterns that ensure AlphaSense remains fast, reliable, secure, and maintainable as the product evolves.

• Lead through hands-on system design: Engage deeply with Swift, SwiftUI, and Swift concurrency to transform complex product and platform challenges into clean, production-ready mobile systems.

• Elevate standards for reliability and execution: Influence how mobile work is designed, reviewed, tested, shipped, and operated, including the necessary automation, observability, rollout practices, and AI-enabled validation to enable swift and confident progress.

• Define mobile system contracts: Utilize sufficient Android and backend context to unify teams around API behavior, failure modes, authentication and session flows, performance expectations, ownership boundaries, and technical decisions that directly impact mobile quality.

• Mentor and multiply: Enhance the skills of engineers across the mobile engineering team and related technical teams through mentorship, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. Cultivate technical culture and elevate expectations for system design, operational quality, and execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound expertise in iOS platform architecture, modular design, performance, security, reliability, SwiftUI, and modern Swift concurrency in production systems.

• Capability to reason across the entire mobile system, including Android constraints, backend API behavior, authentication and session flows, release risks, and client/backend service contracts.

• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows, AI harnesses, evaluation practices, or AI-driven testing systems to enhance engineering velocity, quality, and regression confidence.

• Strong mindset focused on reliability and release quality, with experience in testing strategy, automation, observability, CI/CD, and production mobile quality practices.

• Proven track record in leading significant technical initiatives, establishing engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and raising the technical bar across teams.

• Exceptional product judgment and communication skills, including the ability to link technical decisions to customer outcomes and align teams through RFCs, ADRs, technical plans, or decision records.

• Experience with iPadOS, macOS, or multi-platform Apple product experiences.

• Background in enterprise mobile application development, MDM/MAM, or regulated customer environments.

• Experience in building or adopting design systems in production mobile applications.

• Experience making targeted contributions to backend services or APIs using technologies such as Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, Node.js, or Python.
