Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• You will explore and implement cutting-edge AWS and big data technologies to reveal hidden opportunities, enable new capabilities, and create integrations for the SIXT Data Shop.

• You will design, construct, and manage the essential infrastructure that supports the Data Platform, including Kubernetes workloads, AWS services, and reusable Terraform modules, with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and enhancing the developer experience.

• You will collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, and Data Scientists to design optimal solutions for various analytical applications, such as dashboarding, ad hoc analytics, data-as-a-product, and machine learning.

• You will play a key role in shaping the vision and roadmap of the Data Platform by contributing your expertise and intellectual curiosity, establishing the technical direction and engineering standards that the broader team will follow.

• You will uphold the highest standards of integrity and data protection while managing sensitive customer information.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess a B.Tech, B.E., or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of 9 years of experience as a data engineer and a proven record at the senior or staff level.

• You have extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, a wide array of AWS services, and the ability to build Terraform modules from the ground up to facilitate infrastructure-as-code at scale.

• You are familiar with hybrid Data Lake and Data Warehouse architectures, including comprehensive ELT automation from source systems to analytical dashboards, as well as cloud data warehouses like Redshift or Snowflake, dbt, and Apache Airflow.

• You have practical experience with AI coding assistants and agentic workflow automation, including the capability to leverage LLMs with contextual data and a solid grasp of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems.

• You have a strong foundation in agile methodologies, code reviews, source control (GitHub), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), testing, and operations, along with a deep understanding of distributed systems and principles of data storage and computation.

• You are proficient in Python and advanced SQL.
