Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +24 more states.

📋 Description

• Addressing our distinct data-lake challenges by transforming and seamlessly normalizing diverse partner datasets (including donation data);

• Designing robust batch-processing pipelines that can extract and load extensive datasets from various internal, external, and public sources;

• Creating processes for data mining, modeling, and production;

• Utilizing modern technological knowledge to promote evolving industry trends, updated design patterns, and engineering excellence within the team;

• Independently scoping, designing, and executing complex data projects from day one, translating ambiguous requirements into clear, actionable technical plans;

• Establishing robust testing and monitoring systems for scheduled processes;

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to fulfill their data infrastructure requirements;

• Engaging with all colleagues to foster an inclusive work environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience;

• A strong desire to mentor and technically guide engineering teams;

• Proven experience in guiding technical decision-making;

• Extensive hands-on experience in building distributed data pipelines utilizing Apache Spark;

• Proficiency in constructing and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and datasets, with the capacity to drive additional learning to address knowledge gaps;

• Experience in managing data warehouses and/or data lakes;

• A keen intellectual curiosity to innovate solutions for data management challenges;

• A passion for, and enthusiasm towards, progressive and philanthropic causes.
