This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +21 more states.
• Lead the design and advancement of Foley’s enterprise data architecture.
• Contribute to the continuous development of our Enterprise Data Model.
• Establish standards and best practices for data modeling, storage, access, and reliability.
• Drive architectural decisions that balance scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Design, construct, and maintain scalable data pipelines across internal systems, vendor platforms, and the data warehouse.
• Enhance data quality, observability, and reliability throughout core workflows.
• Optimize data workflows for efficiency and sustainable operational health.
• Support both batch and event-driven or CDC-based pipeline patterns.
• Own schema design and warehouse modeling strategies, incorporating dimensional and normalized approaches where applicable.
• Assist in defining and executing data governance best practices, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
• Ensure consistent definitions, documentation, and trust in core business data.
• Act as a thought partner to Engineering, Product, Analytics, and business teams.
• Translate technical complexities into clear recommendations and tradeoffs.
• Elevate data engineering practices across the organization.
• Aid the company in making informed decisions through robust, accessible data foundations.
• Identify opportunities to enhance workflows through automation, tooling, and the thoughtful application of AI.
• Experiment pragmatically with new technologies and scale successful initiatives.
• Build systems and guardrails that enable teams to accelerate without compromising quality.
• Extensive experience in building and maintaining production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience working in both batch and streaming/CDC/event-driven data environments.
• Proven capability to design scalable warehouse schemas and data models in a layered architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of database architecture and distributed data systems.
• Experience with cross-system entity resolution and complex data modeling.
• Experience implementing data governance standards, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including reliability, backend systems, and data processing.
• Ability to operate at a Staff level, setting direction and influencing across teams.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and AWS data tooling, including Redshift, Glue, Lambda, S3, and Data Orchestration (e.g., Airflow).
