This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Establish and maintain the craft standard for Mercury's brand.
• Spearhead the most technically intricate and high-profile brand design projects from inception to completion.
• Collaborate with a senior brand designer and creative leadership to jointly guide the progression of Mercury's creative vision.
• Provide hands-on craft supervision across all outputs from the Brand Studio.
• Commission and art-direct external creatives such as photographers, illustrators, and motion designers.
• Create brand system documentation and frameworks for decision-making.
• Guide IC3 and IC4 designers through critique sessions, pairing initiatives, and direct feedback.
• Work together with brand strategists, copywriters, PMMs, and leadership.
• 7–10+ years of experience in brand design, with a background in high-craft environments such as agencies, fashion, elevated consumer sectors, or design-centric technology.
• An outstanding portfolio showcasing work that exemplifies mastery in typography, layout, color, and composition across various brand contexts.
• A clearly defined and passionately held aesthetic perspective.
• Proficiency in brand systems, demonstrating an understanding of how to create for scalability and uniformity.
• Experience functioning at a staff level, working independently, influencing without authority, and making decisions that impact the entire team’s output.
• Expertise in Figma and hands-on experience in contributing to or leading a design system.
• Strong verbal communication and presentation abilities.
• The discernment to know when to focus closely and when to adopt a broader perspective, along with the discipline to manage both simultaneously.
• An inquisitive nature, self-restraint, and a genuine enthusiasm for producing meaningful work.
