Staff Backend Engineer – Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

• We are seeking skilled backend engineers who have a passion for creating dependable systems around fragmented yet high-value data.

• As a member of the Core Backend team, you will focus on the systems that are central to Kalepa: designing services, data models, pipelines, and evaluation loops.

• The aim is not merely cleaner data, but an intelligence layer that facilitates better, quicker, and more comprehensible decision-making.

• You will be part of a high-ownership team responsible for some of Kalepa’s most critical business infrastructure.

• Your contributions will enhance data completeness, increase transparency in our decisions, and elevate the value of our products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess 8+ years of experience in software engineering.

• Demonstrate hustle and resilience, showcasing excellence in your craft and a relentless pursuit of improvement.

• Take full accountability for your work and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.

• Communicate proactively by identifying blockers, asking pertinent questions, and keeping stakeholders informed.

• Thrive in an experimental environment: you are comfortable testing concepts, measuring outcomes, and iterating swiftly on unsolved challenges.

• Have a strong foundation in system design, debugging, and problem-solving.

• Proficient in Python (our primary stack), although we welcome strong candidates from other Object-Oriented backgrounds.

• Experience with serverless technologies (Lambda, EC2), asynchronous workflows, and cloud environments is essential.

• Familiarity with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, is preferred.

• Bonus: experience with LLMs/generative AI and distributed systems.
