Staff Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• Take ownership of key backend architecture components, such as APIs, distributed systems, data models, infrastructure, and essential business logic.

• Utilize AI-driven engineering tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, ChatGPT, Devin, or similar) as part of your everyday workflow to enhance development, debugging, testing, documentation, and operational efficiency.

• Spot opportunities to incorporate AI into both internal engineering systems and customer-focused platform capabilities.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and refine production systems end-to-end, emphasizing reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

• Create systems capable of accommodating growing scale, complexity, and changing customer workflows.

• Establish and execute contemporary testing, observability, and operational practices that enhance system resilience and developer velocity.

• Develop scalable abstractions, internal frameworks, and platform functionalities that facilitate quicker product development across teams.

• Steer the technical direction and contribute to long-term architectural decisions regarding performance, security, scalability, and platform evolution.

• Mentor engineers throughout the organization, sharing best practices and assisting in elevating the technical standards for backend engineering and system design.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in backend or full-stack engineering, preferably in SaaS or high-scale distributed systems settings.

• Demonstrated expertise in designing, scaling, and managing complex backend systems from early-stage growth to maturity.

• Profound knowledge in distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, infrastructure, and backend architecture patterns.

• Strong command of modern AI engineering workflows and tools. You actively leverage AI to enhance development speed, problem-solving, system comprehension, and operational efficiency.

• A robust execution mindset, capable of balancing rapid iteration with long-term reliability and maintainability.

• Experience in building secure, observable, and fault-tolerant systems within production environments.

• A collaborative and pragmatic approach, effectively engaging with engineering, product, infrastructure, and data teams.
