This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Provide guidance on U.S. federal and state employment law issues, including compliance with wage-and-hour regulations (FLSA and equivalent state laws), meal and rest break requirements, expense reimbursement, leave laws (FMLA and state paid leave programs), and worker classification.
• Assist in maintaining multi-state employment compliance as the company's U.S. workforce expands, which includes staying updated on new and evolving state and local employment laws.
• Create, review, and manage employment-related documents such as offer letters, employment contracts, restrictive covenants, separation agreements, and employee handbooks and policies.
• Collaborate with HR on personnel matters, encompassing performance management, accommodations (ADA), disciplinary actions, and terminations.
• Conduct and assist in internal investigations regarding employee complaints, including cases of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage claims.
• Aid in the resolution of employment-related disputes and litigation, which involves coordinating with external legal counsel, managing discovery and document collection, and providing support for administrative agency matters (EEOC, state agencies, DOL).
• Offer advice on employment-related aspects of insurance coverage, including EPLI policies, claims reporting, and coverage evaluation.
• Oversee pay practices, payroll tax compliance, and employer withholding responsibilities in collaboration with finance and payroll teams.
• Design and present employment law training sessions for managers and HR personnel.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with an active license to practice law in the Philippines; a law degree from a U.S. law school or admission to a U.S. state bar is highly preferred.
• Extensive experience or formal education in U.S. employment and labor law, whether through practice, LL.M. coursework, or significant work supporting U.S. employers.
• Knowledge of wage-and-hour litigation and multi-state compliance, with California experience being a significant advantage.
• Reside in the Philippines and be available for night shift work hours to align with the U.S. team.
• Exceptional proficiency in written and spoken English communication.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving legal issues.
