Staff AI Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance architectural and engineering practices across various teams.

• Collaborate with Engineering Managers and technical leads on intricate system-design choices.

• Lead the creation of technical designs, RFCs, architecture evaluations, and key code reviews.

• Develop and deploy production systems encompassing AI, backend, cloud, infrastructure, and full-stack applications.

• Enhance CI/CD processes, testing, observability, reliability, security, and developer experience.

• Create reusable platforms, libraries, reference implementations, and streamlined processes for teams.

• Assist in designing and managing production AI systems, including model integration, orchestration, retrieval, evaluation, and monitoring.

• Contribute to cloud infrastructure and troubleshoot complex production issues.

• Mentor engineers and elevate technical quality through active leadership.

• Ensure engineering standards remain effective post-implementation.

• Guide engineering transformation from ad hoc features to scalable, robust systems.

• Establish release lifecycle practices.

• Enhance the quality and consistency of technical design across teams.

• Set up engineering guardrails.

• Minimize repeated architectural errors and unnecessary duplication.

• Boost developer velocity, reliability, and operational quality.

• Act as a reliable technical partner to Engineering Managers and senior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of experience in architecture.

• Experience as a Founding Engineer in scaling startups.

• Ability to influence multiple teams without formal authority.

• Resourceful and able to work independently across teams and individual projects.

• Strong experience in designing, building, and operating production software systems.

• In-depth expertise in AI systems, backend or distributed systems, infrastructure, and cloud architecture.

• Practical knowledge of foundation models, inference, retrieval, orchestration, evaluation, latency, and cost.

• Robust working knowledge of full-stack development.

• Experience with Python, Go, TypeScript, Kubernetes, and major cloud platforms.
