Specialist, Social Studies Content Developer – Early Elementary, K–2

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Assist in the creation and execution of K–12 Social Studies curriculum

• Create comprehensive course maps that convert scope and sequence documentation into PVS instructional frameworks

• Break down state and national standards into lesson-specific learning objectives

• Identify discrepancies between source materials and necessary standards; suggest and document strategies to bridge these gaps

• Establish the suitable distribution of standards throughout lessons

• Design and produce lesson-level content, which includes learning objects, instructional sequences, and student-oriented activities

• Compose clear, student-centered instructional materials that are developmentally appropriate and engaging

• Implement multimodal design principles to accommodate diverse learners

• Ensure that learning objectives, instructional materials, and assessment opportunities are in alignment

• Create and evaluate formative and summative assessments that correspond to lesson objectives

• Design student activities that foster engagement, inquiry, and the application of social studies concepts

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Social Studies, or a related field

• Over 2 years of preferred K–2 classroom teaching experience

• More than 3 years of experience in curriculum development, ideally within digital or virtual learning settings

• Proven experience in developing standards-aligned social studies curriculum

• Strong grasp of early elementary social studies concepts (civics, community, geography, introductory history)

• Capability to break down standards into specific, lesson-level objectives

• Keen attention to detail regarding content accuracy, alignment, and instructional integrity

• Aptitude for identifying quality issues and offering clear, actionable feedback

• Excellent written communication skills, particularly for student-facing materials

• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines in a dynamic environment

• Comfort in working both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams

• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles
