
Special Education Floating Substitute Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver designated course material in an online setting
• Offer instruction, support, and guidance tailored to students’ individual IEP requirements
• Ensure that special education and related services are delivered as outlined by the IEP team
• Engage in communication with parents and related service personnel about suitable therapies
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary special education documentation
• Organize and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP gatherings
• Implement accommodations and modifications utilizing assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible texts
• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments in accordance with IEPs
• Promote student inclusion and achievement in the general education setting
• Gather data and work samples to track progress towards IEP objectives
• Record parent interactions and student interventions
• Evaluate student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
• Manage the grade book and make decisions regarding student placement and promotion
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments
• Foster positive relationships and communicate promptly with students, learning coaches, and parents
• Assist learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting
• Travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student testing, and/or school obligations
• Bachelor’s degree
• Active state teaching license
• Michigan Teaching Certification required
• Special Education endorsement required
• Ability to pass the required background check
• Capability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
• Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during work hours
• Competence in collaborating with teachers to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
• Ability to utilize student data to inform instructional decisions
• Open to regular coaching from administrators
• Willingness to embrace change and adapt to ensure outstanding student outcomes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to quickly learn and adjust to new technologies and teaching platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Desired experience with the target age group, online or traditional teaching, technology support, and online learning platforms
• Base salary around $51,000
