Software Test Engineer, Mid Level

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Take charge of all testing elements at an epic level within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Operate autonomously within your assigned sprint team to guarantee sufficient test coverage. Your main focus will be to master a designated domain within the team.

• Software QA: Execute QA tasks based on software specifications to ensure our software products meet the highest quality standards. Carry out complete software development lifecycles in line with the department's strategy.

• Release Testing: Implement various testing strategies including regression, functional, non-functional, and user acceptance tests across all software products. Engage in sprint delivery and the development of test plans during release cycles. Adapt to diverse projects and platforms with minimal challenges.

• QA Maintenance: Sustain test suites, test documentation, and test automation frameworks.

• Team Player: Collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver products and features promptly and efficiently. Independently handle a defined scope of work with minimal guidance.

• Sharpen the Saw: Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies in software testing and contribute to knowledge sharing. Acquire advanced testing methods or automation tools that enhance team productivity. Exhibit a thorough understanding of a subject matter and its effective application.

• Coaching: Guide interns and junior staff, or participate in communities, user groups, and open-source projects.

• Manage ALL defects within your team. Independently address new defects during a scheduled week-long rotation. The primary aim is to meet Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) targets.

• Defect Resolution: Reproduce defects reported by end users, investigate possible root causes, and update test suites to mitigate future occurrences. Facilitate and communicate the status of issues between users and engineers. Own key results in resolving defects for designated teams.

• Documentation: Identify and document defects and issues in software applications as reported by both external and internal users. Perform triaging based on a specified defect resolution schema and escalate issues to meet team targets. Communicate the delivery status of individual tickets to technical leads.

• Support any ad hoc tasks as required by the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven Track Record: Possess 1-3 years of professional experience in software testing for web and mobile applications within Agile teams. Able to adapt to various projects.

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields, or relevant professional-level certifications.

• Product Knowledge: Familiar user of CoinGecko products with a demonstrable understanding of finance, blockchain, or cryptocurrencies.

• Software Testing Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies. Familiarity with advanced software testing techniques such as Boundary Value Analysis (BVA) and equivalence partitioning.

• Organization & Attention to Detail: Review technical documents to create detailed test plans early in the development phase. Strong writing skills for documentation.

• People Skills: Communicate clearly and have experience collaborating with others in a team to achieve shared objectives.

• Leadership: Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Contribute to ongoing projects and workflows to enhance team productivity.

• Scope of Work: Primarily work on clearly defined and scoped individual features or challenges of moderate complexity independently within established guidelines. Provide accurate estimates on time and complexity for your own tasks.

• Problem Solving: Enthusiastic about addressing challenges faced by stakeholders with strong user empathy.

• Nice to have:

• Experience in writing test automation code in Java or Python.

• Strong interest in decentralized technologies and their applications, including cryptocurrencies.
