Software Engineer – SRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Contribute technical expertise to the SRE team by designing and planning SRE toolsets and automation processes.

• Engage in architecture and security assessments for SRE projects.

• Advocate for cloud technologies and CI/CD solutions across broader engineering teams.

• Concentrate on creating tools and processes that promote secure development practices.

• Work collaboratively with various feature development teams to determine their needs for application building and deployment.

• Deploy and set up daily iterative builds of applications and containers on Tomcat server and Kubernetes clusters for multiple feature development teams.

• Deploy and configure MongoDB test databases with appropriate test data.

• Design and implement automation for deployment and configuration tasks.

• Assess cloud infrastructure requirements for deployment environments while managing associated costs.

• Resolve issues related to failed builds and deployments.

• Facilitate, manage, and communicate information regarding environments, including their current status, deployed versions, and availability to developers, QA engineers, and team members.

• Take ownership and execute software configuration and release activities using GitHub, Artifactory, and Jenkins in central Git repositories, along with Jenkins builds, branching, tagging, building, and releasing.

• Provide 24/7 support for services and applications by participating in an on-call rotation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience with technologies such as JAVA, Groovy, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Strong proficiency in scripting languages, preferably Python and Groovy.

• Familiarity with build tools like Gradle, Maven, and NPM.

• Experience supporting production-grade systems, including Linux administration, deployment, high availability and durability, practical logging and monitoring, and cost optimization in a public cloud, preferably AWS.

• Practical experience with Terraform.

• Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Fargate, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS, and SNS is preferable.

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with Blue/Green deployments is preferred.

• Experience with CI/CD tools and automation methodologies, particularly Jenkins.

• Strong operational knowledge of Docker and the container ecosystem.

• Excellent understanding of Linux operating systems.

• Skills in administration and automation with developer tools like Bitbucket and Artifactory.

• Some experience with CI/CD automation for DevSecOps tools such as Sonar and Blackduck.
