Software Engineer III, Database Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +26 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage and enhance production database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Elastic.

• Develop and oversee binlog and logical replication methods.

• Assist with ELT/ETL pipelines and CDC workflows to guarantee secure data transfer.

• Connect transactional systems with Kafka-based streaming frameworks.

• Improve database performance through query optimization, indexing, and scaling techniques.

• Oversee backups, failover protocols, and disaster recovery (PITR) plans.

• Monitor system performance and enhance infrastructure cost-effectiveness.

• Uphold data integrity, security, and compliance regulations.

• Lead and assist in database-related incident management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in database engineering within production settings.

• Extensive hands-on expertise with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.

• Proven experience in owning and maintaining high-availability OLTP systems.

• Familiarity with binlog or logical replication processes.

• Experience in integrating OLTP systems with Kafka or comparable streaming solutions.

• Background in supporting ELT/ETL pipelines and data processing workflows.

• Strong grasp of ACID concepts and transaction isolation levels.

• Experience diagnosing performance challenges (locking, replication delays, indexing).

• Knowledge of AWS-managed database offerings (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB).

• Capability to balance performance, cost, and data integrity in production environments.
