This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ We are seeking a Staff Identity Engineer to develop and establish the fundamental identity, authentication, authorization, and data systems central to Keycard.
β’ The systems you create must be dynamic, multi-tenant, and efficient, making authentication decisions in under 10ms across cloud, edge, and hybrid environments.
β’ Your role will encompass everything from core distributed services to the SDKs and APIs utilized by developers, ensuring a seamless and trustworthy experience from start to finish.
β’ You will collaborate directly with founders, product teams, design, and engineers working on our SDKs and platform services. Additionally, you will assist in defining how we use agents internally, contributing to Keycard's evolution into an agent-native engineering organization.
β’ You possess extensive experience in building and managing identity, authentication, and authorization systems. You are well-versed in OAuth, SCIM, OIDC, mTLS, and related concepts, treating them as products rather than mere infrastructure.
β’ Strong instincts in distributed systems are essential. You design with security, multi-tenancy, and reliability in mind, demonstrating clear reasoning regarding consensus, transactionality, and extensible data models.
β’ You are primarily a programmer β proficient in Go, Rust, or similar languages, and comfortable navigating the stack from core systems and infrastructure to SDKs and APIs.
β’ You excel in 0β1 environments, making difficult trade-offs to deliver results today while laying the groundwork for the long-term system, utilizing iteration to enhance the learning process.
β’ You lead by example, raising the standards for technical excellence while fostering growth in those around you. You communicate effectively through written plans and asynchronous updates, knowing when to initiate a call.
β’ Build at the Frontier: Engage daily at the cutting edge of agent-native systems β shipping, innovating, and iterating on technology that has yet to be developed. You will have significant autonomy, opportunities for mastery, and the chance to work within a team that holds each other accountable for success.
β’ Truly Agent-Native Culture: At Keycard, we not only enable others to adopt agents β we utilize them ourselves in our development processes. You will contribute to shaping an organization that integrates AI into its foundation as a lasting competitive advantage.
β’ Compensation With Upside: Enjoy market-competitive salaries and generous equity packages (4-year vesting, 1-year cliff) that provide you with the stability to focus on building and the potential for significant ownership in a company pursuing a category-defining mission.
β’ Comprehensive Benefits & Recharge: Access health, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage for you and your family, along with 4 weeks of vacation, 11 statutory holidays, and 1 volunteer day annually. We encourage at least 2 weeks off each year to fully recharge.
β’ Tools That Keep You Ahead: Receive a new MacBook Pro, a $500 stipend for peripherals, and access to the best AI tools available, enabling you to work at the forefront of agent-native workflows.
β’ Remote-First Flexibility: We are a remote-first team that prioritizes asynchronous collaboration, focusing our hiring efforts in North and South America. Work where you are most effective β we simply want the best talent.
