Software Engineer – IaC Platform Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the Go Terraform provider codebase, encompassing architecture, implementation quality, testing strategies, and release readiness.

• Enhance the reliability and usability of the Terraform provider, focusing on resource behavior, data sources, lifecycle edge cases, and upgrade safety.

• Lead the technical strategy for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows through design documents, requests for comments (RFCs), and iterative delivery.

• Develop practical migration and interoperability paths for current Terraform users.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership in a shared roadmap approach to establish priorities, scope, and outcomes.

• Track customer feedback, open-source software (OSS) issues, and usage signals to continuously refine the Terraform experience.

• Produce clear documentation and examples that facilitate the understanding and adoption of IaC workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience in developer platforms, infrastructure tools, or distributed systems.

• Strong expertise in Go with a proven history of delivering production-grade developer tools.

• Extensive experience with Terraform provider behavior, declarative resource models, and lifecycle edge cases.

• Solid understanding of schema design, versioning, and backward compatibility.

• Experience in owning or contributing to a provider codebase that has real user adoption and upgrade considerations.

• Familiarity with testing strategies for providers and IaC tools (including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing) as well as CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of release/versioning strategies and backward compatibility in widely utilized developer tools.

• Excellent written communication skills with a history of producing clear technical design documents and RFCs.

• Nice to have: familiarity with TypeScript-based tools, Supabase CLI workflows, and GitHub-centric automation.
