• Developing and executing code
• Conducting local tests to confirm that acceptance criteria are fulfilled
• Drafting technical specifications (tech specs) to introduce new functionalities or features into the codebase
• Receiving and integrating feedback into the codebase prior to implementation
• Reviewing pull requests to assess requirements before merging
• Offering feedback to colleagues on pull requests to foster collaboration on suggested changes
• Implementing and testing updates for design systems, including web design
• Identifying and proposing solutions to obstacles encountered during work
• Collaborating with both internal and external engineers through engineering huddles
• Participating in standup meetings to discuss project updates and progress
• Engaging in refinements to estimate the level of difficulty for each ticket
• Taking part in biweekly retrospectives (retros) to analyze sprint efficiencies and inefficiencies
• Participating in sprint demo meetings to showcase completed or ongoing work
• Sharing knowledge by providing feedback to designers, project managers, and fellow engineers to develop solutions and set priorities
• Acting as a resource for peers regarding Nava’s culture and expectations
• Engaging in Engineering critiques with other teams to provide and receive feedback on completed work
• Interacting with clients to provide project updates and offer solutions
• Over 5 years of experience in software development within a team environment, ideally in building distributed systems
• Strong background in the healthcare industry with a deep understanding of FHIR
• Experience applying Smart on FHIR standards for healthcare application development
• Current and/or prior experience creating API endpoints using Java or Python
• Open to Backend engineers or Full-Stack engineers with a Backend focus
• Knowledge of best practices in web and mobile user interface design
• Determination to tackle problems and iterate towards functional code
• A balanced approach as a systems thinker while advocating for users
• Highly resourceful, dependable, and detail-oriented
• Ability to strategically consider trade-offs and the balance between short-term and long-term benefits
