Software Engineer – Compute Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of Render's core compute infrastructure across various cloud providers, regions, and data centers. You will influence the evolution of our compute platform as we rapidly expand.

• Design and develop features that provide users with enhanced performance and flexibility in the construction, deployment, performance, and availability of their services, even in the event of underlying resource failures.

• Explore complex cloud and compute challenges throughout the stack, from the kernel and data plane to our Kubernetes cluster, control plane, and other orchestration tools.

• Enhance the performance and reliability of our infrastructure through systematic profiling, experimentation, and optimization.

• Collaborate with engineers across the organization to create a platform that is stable, predictable, and secure.

• Engage in our on-call rotation. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our incident detection, response, and learning processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in building and managing large-scale platform or compute infrastructure.

• Profound expertise in operating, scaling, and optimizing Kubernetes clusters or comparable resource/container orchestration systems.

• Experience in developing using Go, Rust, or similar programming languages to create custom infrastructure components, scheduling, and controllers that implement business logic for resource management.

• Ability to navigate both broad and deep aspects of complex systems, making trade-offs to enhance performance and efficiency while maintaining reliability.

• Extensive experience in designing, debugging, and managing distributed systems.

• Proven experience in planning and executing rapid, high-risk upgrades and changes with minimal disruption to user services.
