Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Implementing a Terraform-supported EKS cluster while modernizing and maintaining it for flexibility, reliability, performance, security, and more.

• Delving into troubleshooting Postgres performance and various queue types, ultimately devising a strategy for scaling from 10x to 100x.

• Proactively identifying and resolving scaling challenges before they impact our customers by enhancing our telemetry and traces in Datadog, AWS Cloudwatch, and Honeycomb. If a blind spot is detected, you are willing to dive into the codebase for a solution.

• Sustaining and improving our track record of over 99.95% uptime.

• Assisting our product engineering team in delivering customer value swiftly. Enhancing the daily developer experience through canaries, reduced cycle times, blue/green deployments, etc.

• Participating in on-call rotations as scheduled with the engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar role within a startup or mid-sized company dealing with complex systems operating at scale.

• Proficiency in working with production Kubernetes clusters using infrastructure as code (we utilize Terraform, but experience with alternatives like Pulumi or Cloudformation is acceptable).

• Experience with intricate AWS deployments (multi-account, complex VPC structures to support EKS, and hands-on EKS experience).

• Expertise in operating and scaling various database technologies. Familiarity with Aurora Postgres, Mongo, and ClickHouse is essential, with significant experience in at least one of these.

• Previous experience or knowledge in managing and scaling different queues and streams utilizing SQS, Kinesis, Kafka, or similar technologies.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and performance.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating in a fully distributed, remote-first team environment.
