Software Engineer, Cloud Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with open source communities (e.g., Istio) to develop the next-generation service mesh for all Airbnb back-end services;

• Create cross-region gateways and load balancers for Airbnb's global services;

• Partner with external stakeholders as well as internal engineering and security teams to implement edge security systems that safeguard Airbnb services;

• Design the multi-region network architecture on public cloud platforms and develop software and operational tools to manage Airbnb's production network;

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance network performance for Airbnb services;

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.

• Proficient in network architecture on public cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and their associated network service offerings (e.g., VPC, Security Group, PrivateLink, and related products).

• Experience managing large-scale networking systems and software (e.g., Edge proxies, DNS, CDN, network gateways); familiarity with Istio and Envoy is a plus.

• You are a full-cycle developer: demonstrating strong ownership and experience in building and operating high-scale, distributed systems throughout the entire software life cycle.

• Possessing excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within teams and across engineering departments.

• A strong problem solver who has previously led a team responsible for production infrastructure on-call duties.
