Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and create dependable, well-documented RESTful APIs that are utilized by both internal teams and external customers at scale.

• Navigate and enhance a large, established PHP monolith, comprehending existing patterns, maintaining stability, and implementing gradual improvements.

• Identify and manage technical debt thoughtfully, balancing urgent delivery requirements with long-term sustainability.

• Integrate and sustain third-party SDKs and external services, ensuring reliability, effective error handling, and smooth degradation.

• Write clean, testable code that adheres to and elevates team coding standards, ensuring that every aspect is improved upon.

• Collaborate effectively with engineering colleagues and leaders to review code, share insights, and elevate technical standards across the team.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues within a complex, interconnected system promptly, thoroughly, and with clear communication.

• Participate in architectural discussions and assist in evaluating technical trade-offs as systems evolve.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional PHP development experience within a production environment.

• Proven experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs, including versioning, authentication, error handling, and documentation.

• Strong MySQL expertise, including schema design, query optimization, and a solid understanding of indexing and performance at scale.

• Experience working with large, legacy codebases, comfortable reading unfamiliar code and making safe, targeted modifications.

• Familiarity with patterns for integrating third-party SDKs and managing upstream service failures effectively.

• Understanding of SOLID software engineering principles, testing methodologies, and code review practices.

• Experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative development within a team setting.

• Exposure to cloud infrastructure is a plus.
