Software Engineer – App

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy full-stack features utilizing our Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView, JavaScript, and Postgres technology stack, covering both our primary wildfire resilience platform and our utility applications.

• Work with extensive geospatial datasets—raster, vector, and tiled data—to provide insights related to forest planning, scenario development, and treatment outcomes for end users.

• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to define, enhance, and execute user-facing workflows for land managers, foresters, and partner organizations.

• Take ownership of features from concept to completion, overseeing technical design, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvements based on user feedback.

• Enhance platform reliability through code reviews, automated testing, observability, and active participation in our on-call Sev process.

• Partner with Environmental Analysis and Infrastructure teams to integrate geospatial models (such as Pyrologix, ForSys/Patchmax, and canopy height) within the application experience.

• Enhance developer experience and engineering efficiency through improved tools, refactoring, and comprehensive documentation.

• Mentor fellow engineers, engage in pair programming, and participate in technical interviews as the team expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience in building and maintaining production web applications.

• Expertise in Elixir, including OTP capabilities.

• Strong understanding of relational databases (preferably Postgres) and SQL, encompassing schema design, query optimization, and migrations.

• Proven track record of delivering features end-to-end within a collaborative, cross-functional team setting.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to clarify ambiguous issues with PMs, designers, and industry experts.

• Comfortable working in a fully remote, high-paced startup environment.

• Must possess authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
