Software Engineer 4, AI-Native

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the team of agents in managing production workflows — break down issues into tasks that agents can execute, assign these tasks, and integrate the results into final software releases.

• Review a high volume of agent-generated pull requests with thoroughness — detect correctness, security, and accessibility issues that automated tests may overlook, while ensuring a steady review pace and high-quality standards.

• Create evaluation suites that quantify quality — establish criteria for pipeline validation of correctness rather than depending on subjective judgment.

• Take ownership of quality in its entirety — oversee the correctness, performance, security posture, and WCAG accessibility of the software produced by your team, regardless of the source of the initial implementation.

• Progress workstreams towards greater autonomy based on evidence — transition tasks from supervised to autonomous execution when reliability metrics support it, and revert quickly if they do not.

• Enhance the development lifecycle — pinpoint areas where patterns, prompts, or pipeline components deteriorate under high load and collaborate with the lead architect to address these issues.

• Ensure agent operations remain within the security parameters — implement branch-only execution, secured credentials, sandboxed actions, and in-VPC inference. Throughput does not warrant exceptions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid engineering principles. Proficient in data structures, systems design, and testing, with the capability to swiftly read and accurately assess unfamiliar code.

• Proven track record of delivering production software for which you were responsible for quality, including diagnosis and remediation in case of failures.

• Practical experience in guiding coding agents on production tasks, including understanding their failure modes and critically reviewing agent-generated code rather than simply approving it.

• Proven competency in code review. You can spot defects that automated tests might miss, provide constructive feedback, and uphold high standards without causing delays.

• High level of autonomy. You can progress tasks without needing detailed instructions and address issues proactively.

• Experience in high-assurance or regulated environments. Familiarity with shipping products in FedRAMP, defense, financial services, healthcare, or other NIST 800-53 / SOC 2 / HIPAA-regulated settings.

• Expertise in evaluation authoring or test-first development within a disciplined engineering culture.

• Full-stack proficiency, allowing you to review outputs from both front-end and back-end agents with equal assurance.

• Experience in the public sector or government technology and familiarity with the associated end users.
