Software Development Engineer Intern – Infrastructure, DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with state-of-the-art infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and Istio.

• Enhance development speed across the organization through quicker, safer, and more frequent deployments.

• Significantly boost developer satisfaction and productivity within the company by providing superior development tools and workflows.

• Directly impact financial performance with initiatives aimed at cost savings and optimizations.

• Detect errors and performance issues proactively with automated monitoring and alerting systems.

• Utilize Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Manage dozens of containerized microservices developed in Python and/or JS, handling over 15k requests per second.

• Employ Kubernetes for service deployments.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Helm.

• Use Datadog and Incident.IO for logging, monitoring, and alerting purposes.

• Work with Postgres for data storage and Redis for caching solutions.

• Utilize GitLab for version control and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).

• Leverage Python, Bash, and Docker for local development workflows and CI/CD operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess experience and familiarity with POSIX-based operating systems.

• You have prior experience with Docker and understand its functionality and the challenges it addresses.

• You have a basic understanding of how cloud-based networked services operate, including VPC, IP, TCP, DNS, HTTP, etc.

• You dislike repetitive manual tasks and are eager to automate them.

• You have an innate ability to identify and eliminate waste (in terms of money, time, and CPU cycles).

• You have a fast learning capability, regardless of the languages and technologies involved.
