Software Development Engineer III – Android, Maps SDK

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Play a pivotal role in shaping architectural strategies, spearheading technical projects, and designing scalable features.

• Create innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate various Mapbox SDKs (Navigation, Maps, and Search), allowing customer applications to launch swiftly and effectively.

• Define and manage the execution of large-scale, cross-functional projects and initiatives.

• Ensure quality by promoting enhancements in our development processes, code quality standards, and best practices across teams.

• Engage in technical discussions and decisions that influence long-term strategic direction and scalability.

• Serve as a technical mentor and resource for the team, encouraging professional growth and knowledge-sharing.

• Actively contribute to hands-on development efforts to uphold high-quality standards across SDKs.

• Design intuitive and user-friendly APIs for developers utilizing SDKs.

• Deliver top-notch features in collaboration with colleagues and cross-functional teams.

• Implement enhancements to SDK functionality and developer experience.

• Debug, profile, and optimize performance issues.

• Proven track record of delivering complex Android applications and SDKs.

• Proficiency in native technologies, such as Kotlin and Java.

• Familiarity with testing methodologies and frameworks.

• Commitment to usability and exceptional user experience.

• Enthusiasm for building frameworks and developer tools.

• Willingness to learn and share knowledge.

• Passion for earning and maintaining customer trust.

• Preparedness to delve deeply into the Android stack and navigate AOSP code when necessary.

• Experience in debugging and profiling to address performance issues is an advantage.

• Knowledge of or a desire to expand understanding of C++ is a plus.
