This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Assist in public health communication efforts by creating, managing, and distributing digital content across various channels.

• Oversee and maintain social media content on platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, and other emerging digital channels.

• Design and implement social media and digital engagement strategies that are in line with public health priorities, communication goals, and campaign objectives.

• Produce and revise a range of health communication materials, such as social media posts, newsletters, communication plans, messaging documents, marketing materials, website content, presentations, and outreach tools.

• Simplify complex scientific, technical, and public health information into clear, audience-centric messages using plain language and best practices in health literacy.

• Assist public health social marketing initiatives by managing content distribution across multiple communication platforms while monitoring campaign performance.

• Track audience engagement, social media discussions, and stakeholder interactions, identifying opportunities to enhance reach and effectiveness.

• Compile reports and dashboards that provide insights into communication metrics, engagement patterns, and performance findings.

• Contribute to the development of branding, style guides, communication standards, and quality assurance protocols.

• Organize schedules, editorial calendars, and project timelines to ensure timely delivery of communication products and campaigns.

• Facilitate client and stakeholder engagement through professional communication, participation in meetings, and responsive service provision.

• Recognize communication challenges, propose solutions, and take part in continuous process improvement initiatives.

• Offer informal mentorship and quality review support for junior team members as appropriate.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Health, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, Health Promotion, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in health communications, public affairs, digital communications, social media management, marketing, or similar fields.

• Proven experience in creating communication materials and digital content for public-facing audiences.

• Demonstrated experience in managing organizational social media accounts and executing content strategies.

• Experience in producing written communication materials including newsletters, messaging documents, blog entries, website content, communication plans, or social media campaigns.

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities, with a knack for converting technical or scientific information into accessible content.

• Strong attention to detail and a proven track record of following through on instructions.

• Understanding of public health communications, audience engagement strategies, and health literacy best practices.

• Experience in gathering, analyzing, and reporting on communication or social media performance metrics.

• Proficiency in using social media management and scheduling tools.

• Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.

• Preferred experience working with federal health agencies like CDC, NIH, CMS, HHS, or other public health organizations.

• Preferred experience in supporting public health awareness campaigns, social marketing initiatives, or health promotion programs.

• Preferred experience using social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Buffer, or similar tools.

• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements, digital accessibility standards, and plain language guidelines is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of AI tools along with their limitations and risks is preferred.
