Senior Training Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Lead the development and revision of the Apprenticeship Program Curriculum through conducting needs assessments, designing curriculum, creating instructional materials, performing assessments/evaluations, revising programs, and optimizing delivery.

• Oversee and present the Apprenticeship Program Course Delivery, which includes public speaking, managing logistics and scheduling, collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring reliability, fostering continuous improvement, supporting key performance indicators (KPIs), and aligning with MEI’s core values of safety, integrity, and excellence.

• Drive organizational training projects by overseeing and managing training initiatives that fulfill company-wide requirements, while monitoring their effectiveness and making necessary adjustments.

• Manage skill development initiatives for employees across all levels, which involves evaluating candidates’ qualifications and their commitment to participating in programs like Entry-Level Driver Training.

• Collaborate with the Director of Training and Development, Talent Development Managers, Training Specialists, Regional Office Training Instructors, and other organizational leaders to design and implement impactful training solutions.

• Conduct gap analyses by performing skill and knowledge assessments to identify development opportunities and align employees with suitable training pathways.

• Develop and deliver training materials by obtaining or creating training resources and presentations, including technical content, and facilitating training sessions for individuals or groups across various locations.

• Track and maintain training records by managing a centralized system of training documentation for the organization, ensuring compliance with audit and regulatory standards.

• Evaluate training effectiveness by monitoring and reporting on participant progress, milestones, and successes, and assessing overall program effectiveness in achieving organizational goals.

• Stay updated as a subject matter expert (SME) by attending industry trade shows, seminars, and continuing education opportunities relevant to the organization’s operations.

• Support recruitment efforts by evaluating and interviewing new hires to assess their potential for success in training programs and their alignment with organizational needs.

• This position reports to the Director of Training and Development and will require travel to regional offices, with an expectation of up to 50% travel.


⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A higher degree (Bachelor) in Education, Training, Human Resources, Industrial Education, or a related field is advantageous.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in advanced roles such as Rigger, Machinery Mover, Construction Rigger, or similar positions is essential.

• Knowledge of or experience with DOT regulations and CDL training programs and requirements is required.

• Experience in managing training programs and curriculums, including both short- and long-duration learning, while maintaining up-to-date and relevant materials, topics, and records for training.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, as well as familiarity with a Windows-based operating system.

• Strong organizational and planning skills; must demonstrate adaptability and flexibility while maintaining a customer-focused approach.

• Ability to convey complex or technical information and concepts effectively across all levels of staff, interpreting and explaining information clearly to others.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills; comfortable delivering in-person instruction to groups of varying sizes.

• A solid understanding of the English language, including word meanings and spelling, with the ability to keep accurate and legible records in English.

• Demonstrates active listening and critical thinking skills; interacts with others in a professional and positive manner, can follow directions, and is open to constructive feedback.

• Must be self-directed and self-motivated; capable of managing one’s own time efficiently while encouraging the same in others.

• Ability to analyze information, make informed decisions, problem-solve, and positively influence others.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is beneficial but not required.

• Possesses a valid driver’s license, is insurable, and is willing and able to travel locally between regional offices frequently.
