Senior Technical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• The documentation you create and enhance has a daily, visible impact on how individuals perform their tasks — this is not documentation that remains unused on a shelf.

• Document new products from the outset, establishing standards before complexity builds up.

• Manage documentation migration projects from beginning to end: identify what needs to be transferred (and improved), gain support from the relevant team, and execute the delivery — encompassing operations documentation, personnel documentation, and more.

• Select your tasks based on their impact. You determine when to elevate standards and when documentation is deemed complete.

• Influence how new departments integrate the Handbook. Collaborate with teams unfamiliar with Git, articulate why their knowledge is essential for the Handbook, and either lead the migration for them or assist them in executing it independently.

• Guide another technical writer — elevate their standards through work reviews, sharing methodologies, and demonstrating how to manage projects autonomously.

• Champion cultural transformation: the documentation practices suitable for a startup environment may not be effective for a scale-up of AI developers. You will assist iwoca in recognizing this and adapting accordingly.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in writing or editing technical documentation.

• Strong proficiency in Git — you will utilize it daily and assist others in mastering its use.

• Proven experience in leading documentation projects from inception to completion: defining scope, securing stakeholder approval, and delivering results.

• Experience in persuading teams outside your own to adopt new practices or methodologies.

• Familiarity with AI tools to enhance editorial and documentation processes — not just for writing assistance but also for directing AI in reviews, migration tasks, and workflow automation.

• **Bonus:**

• Experience in documenting financial services or lending sectors.

• Programming skills (Python, shell scripting).

• Ability to influence individuals across different teams with varying priorities.
