Senior Tactical ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Conduct swift diagnoses across various layers including model, data, code, infrastructure, and evaluation for stalled or unstable projects.

• Determine root causes and establish required corrective actions to regain momentum.

• Clearly convey findings and resolution strategies to research, engineering, and operational teams.

• Directly assist in unblocking ML initiatives by applying fixes to model behavior, data pipelines, and system architecture.

• Create and validate solutions through debugging, targeted code refactoring, and experimental validation.

• Ensure that resolved systems are stable, validated, and prepared for ongoing development.

• Deliver comprehensive handoff artifacts, which include operational code, documentation, and suggested next steps.

• Collaborate with research, infrastructure, platform, evaluation, and integration teams to identify root causes and develop resolution plans.

• Senior-level expertise in software engineering, machine learning systems, and infrastructure within production or production-adjacent settings.

• Strong debugging skills across various system layers, including application code, data pipelines, distributed training, and deployment systems.

• Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving intricate issues in ML systems while under time constraints.

• Well-honed operational judgment, with the capability to triage, prioritize, and execute tasks with incomplete information.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse technical disciplines.
