This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of external loan staff resources tasked with the preparation, review, and submission of state tax returns.

• Supervise annual returns, periodic estimates, filing extensions, and the reconciliation of provision-to-return along with journal entries.

• Handle state income and franchise tax disputes, governmental notices, and audits effectively.

• Coordinate internal resources while collaborating with governmental agencies.

• Provide updates on identified risks and status reports to senior tax management.

• Review tax calculations for quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with ASC 740.

• Analyze and communicate variance findings to management.

• Utilize OneSource, Hyperion, SAP, and various tax and financial software tools.

• Assess state current and deferred rates, combined and consolidated groups, along with federal-to-state tax discrepancies.

• Analyze and calculate FIN #48 tax contingencies and interest accruals along with related disclosures.

• Collaborate with both internal and external auditors as well as the financial accounting and reporting teams.

• Prepare quarterly and annual workpapers while analyzing permanent and temporary tax accounting discrepancies.

• Review tax legislation to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

• Lead the state tax loan staff in their activities.

• Analyze and report on the state income and franchise tax repercussions of merger, acquisition, and divestiture strategies.

• Manage both internal and external resources for various tax projects as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is mandatory.

• At least 3 years of relevant experience gained through a Big Four tax department and/or a tax department of a multinational publicly traded company.

• Solid understanding of federal and state corporate income tax regulations.

• Familiarity with ASC 740, FIN #18, and FIN #48 is essential.

• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, problem-solving, and writing abilities.

• Capacity to safeguard sensitive and confidential financial information.

• Demonstrated project management skills and a keen attention to detail.

• Comprehension of financial statements and other financial documentation.

• Proficient computer skills, including experience with tax research software and the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Expertise in OneSource, Alteryx, Hyperion, SAP, or Power BI is an advantage.

• CPA license or successful completion of the CPA examination is preferred.

• Proficiency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing in English is required.
