This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert within the business unit and shares expertise
• Provide recommendations regarding internal departmental procedures
• Identify business opportunities for clients and CBIZ
• Take on significant client responsibilities as a trusted advisor; pinpoint client issues and conflicts, and proactively communicate potential solutions to both client and team
• Oversee staff on engagement deliverables, such as financial statements, tax returns, and workpapers
• Conduct technical and strategic reviews as part of the final engagement review team to ensure compliance with quality control standards
• Develop new client relationships in collaboration with upper management; engage in client meetings, presentations, and proposal creation
• Achieve individual cross-service goals
• Manage billing and realization for assigned clients; create engagement budgets and clarify any variances
• Comprehend clients' Qualified Plan requirements, as necessary
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff
• Provide performance feedback and conduct evaluations
• Foster a team-oriented environment and support management decisions
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned
• Bachelor's degree is mandatory
• 8 years of experience in public accounting or a related field
• 5 years of supervisory experience required
• Must possess an active CPA or equivalent certification
• Capability to manage all facets of client engagements
• Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple assignments, and prioritize tasks as needed
• Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all organizational levels, both internally and externally
• Proficient in the use of relevant technology
• Willingness to travel as business requirements dictate
• Previous experience in reviewing Forms 1040, 1041, 706, 709, 990, and complex pass-through entity returns
• Familiarity with reviewing alternative investments including private equity and hedge fund K-1s, with knowledge of Section 1061 attributes and foreign reporting
• Experience with family office structures and closely held businesses is preferred
