Senior Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Provide senior technical guidance across various engineering teams, systems, and business areas.

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable software systems.

• Oversee complex cross-functional technical projects from initial discovery and design to delivery and production operations.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Customer Experience, and business stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.

• Assess existing systems and identify opportunities for enhancing reliability, scalability, performance, maintainability, observability, and developer productivity.

• Design and oversee the implementation of backend services, APIs, integrations, platform capabilities, and distributed systems.

• Shape technical strategy, roadmap planning, and prioritization across teams.

• Establish and advocate for engineering best practices in architecture, code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, documentation, and operational excellence.

• Act as a technical mentor for engineers and technical leads, enhancing the standards of design quality, execution, and ownership.

• Assist teams in making informed technical tradeoffs regarding speed, quality, scalability, reliability, security, and long-term maintainability.

• Support modernization initiatives, platform enhancements, and integration strategies between legacy and modern systems.

• Utilize AI-enabled engineering tools, automation, and productivity solutions to enhance development workflows, operational efficiency, and team effectiveness.

• Identify tangible opportunities for AI-assisted tools or automation to improve customer experience, internal processes, engineering productivity, or operational outcomes.

• Collaborate on systems that may encompass customer communications, telephony, contact center workflows, servicing platforms, or enterprise integrations.

• Engage in production support, incident reviews, root cause analysis, and long-term reliability enhancements for critical systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Extensive experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale distributed systems.

• Proven capability to provide technical leadership across multiple teams or complex domains.

• Profound experience with backend services, APIs, data flows, integrations, and cloud-based architectures.

• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, or similar.

• Strong comprehension of system design, software architecture, scalability, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, logging, alerting, and production operations.

• Proven ability to influence technical direction without relying solely on authority.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

• Experience in mentoring engineers and assisting teams in enhancing technical execution.

• Strong ownership mindset and aptitude for driving ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives to successful completion.
