This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software components utilizing Python and C/C++.
• Execute architectural designs and technical frameworks established by senior engineers and software architects.
• Create and sustain systems that ingest, transform, validate, and deliver radar and weather data products.
• Take ownership of clearly defined features or services from the development phase through deployment and operational support.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code that adheres to performance, reliability, and quality benchmarks.
• Engage in technical design discussions and offer implementation-focused feedback on proposed solutions.
• Collaborate across teams with product managers and scientists to convert domain-specific requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to peer code reviews and promote shared engineering best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related scientific or engineering field such as Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Hydrology, Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional software engineering experience in an industry setting.
• Professional proficiency in Python and C/C++.
• Experience with the complete Software Development Lifecycle.
• Knowledge of CI/CD workflows and tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Practical experience working with radar and weather data.
• Direct experience with one or more weather or radar data formats, such as NEXRAD Level II, GRIB2, or NetCDF.
