Senior Staff Engineer, Android

📋 Description

• Establish the technical direction for Android and mobile-facing systems to ensure that AlphaSense experiences are fast, reliable, secure, and adaptable across teams.

• Lead hands-on Android system design: Transform intricate mobile-system challenges into sustainable production architecture based on extensive Android knowledge.

• Enhance reliability and execution methodologies: Influence how mobile work is structured, reviewed, tested, deployed, and maintained across projects, including automation, observability, rollout techniques, and AI-driven validation essential for swift and confident progress.

• Develop robust mobile-facing system agreements: Assist teams in defining the boundaries, ownership, and operational expectations that allow mobile-facing systems to evolve without introducing hidden complexities into native clients.

• Elevate mobile-system decision-making across teams: Convert complex mobile-system tasks into reusable standards and improved engineering judgment for teams creating native experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound knowledge of contemporary production Android architecture, with a proven record of establishing technical standards extending beyond a single feature team.

• Capability to advocate mobile platform principles rooted in deep Android understanding, complemented by sufficient iOS familiarity to influence cross-functional architectural decisions where backend, web, and product choices impact identity, reliability, release quality, observability, and native product outcomes.

• Proven experience in defining mobile-facing platform agreements or backend service boundaries that enhance product quality across native and related client surfaces.

• Ability to read, debug, and contribute to backend systems when necessary to facilitate mobile-facing results.

• Experience in creating AI-enhanced engineering systems that bolster validation, product quality, and delivery confidence across teams.

• Strong reliability and release-quality discernment across production mobile systems, with a history of elevating quality standards across multiple initiatives.

• Proven ability to enhance the skills of engineers around you by translating complex mobile-system tasks into clear standards, reusable patterns, and enhanced technical judgment across teams.

• Exceptional product judgment and communication abilities, including the capacity to connect technical choices to customer outcomes and unify teams around sustainable technical decisions.

• Experience in developing Android product experiences across diverse device and form-factor contexts, such as foldables, wearables, Android Auto, or other platform-native surfaces.
