Senior Software Engineer, Web/Mobile

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and architecture of scalable, high-performance web and mobile front-end solutions that fulfill product requirements and enhance user experience.

• Offer technical direction and mentorship to engineers on best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.

• Represent your team's technical needs and priorities within the wider engineering organization.

• Engage in product discovery sessions to evaluate feasibility, investigate user needs, outline product features, and validate concepts through prototypes and experiments.

• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to develop intuitive and engaging user interfaces that address user challenges and enhance overall experience.

• Work closely with backend and platform engineering teams to guarantee seamless integration between front-end experiences and the underlying services.

• Contribute to the team's and platform's vision as a technical leader, pinpointing front-end technologies and technical investments that enhance performance, reliability, and user experience.

• Decompose complex projects into clear, actionable tasks to achieve successful outcomes.

• Implement front-end observability practices in Datadog, incorporating real user monitoring (RUM), crash reporting, and client-side error tracking to ensure application reliability and performance.

• Raise the engineering standards of the team by spearheading initiatives to enhance workflows, processes, and tools.

• Examine performance metrics and user feedback to uncover opportunities for improvement and drive optimization efforts.

• Create and sustain technical documentation for architecture and development processes.

• Conduct code reviews and engage in knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team.

• Identify performance bottlenecks (such as render performance, bundle size, and mobile memory/battery usage) and suggest enhancements to optimize application performance.

• Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices, proposing innovative solutions to enhance the platform.

• Play a significant role in the hiring process by assisting with interviews and onboarding new engineers.

• Foster a culture of open communication and continuous improvement by providing constructive feedback and coaching to junior team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a software engineer, delivering production code.

• At least 3 years of experience in developing React Native applications for both iOS and Android, including app store release processes.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

• Strong proficiency in front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React, React Native, NextJS, GraphQL).

• Demonstrated experience in building scalable, high-performance web and mobile applications, ideally in a cloud environment.

• Familiarity with front-end state management (e.g., Redux or Context API).

• Experience with front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library) and mobile E2E testing tools (e.g., Detox, Appium).

• Knowledge of deploying and hosting front-end applications, including CI/CD pipelines and CDN/edge delivery.

• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and the ability to build inclusive user experiences.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with the capacity to think critically and strategically.

• Experience with agile software development methodologies.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective work within and across teams.

• Ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet goals without requiring management oversight.
